Biography

Lucy Zhang is an artist from the Greater Philadelphia area with roots in Beijing and Hebei, China. They are currently an undergraduate student at the University of Pittsburgh studying Studio Arts, Global Studies, Asian Studies, and Sociology.

Lucy works in various media including photography, painting, textiles, and installation. Their practice is heavily influenced by their identity as a first-generation Chinese American, exploring the emotive realities of family, memory, landscape, and cultural placement.

Lucy's work has been featured in the St. Francis Art & Music Festival, the University of Pittsburgh's Art of Diversity Showcase, as well as the University of PIttsburgh Art Gallery Exhibit: From One Place to Another.

 

They run a small business, Lucends, which sells hand-crafted home goods and wearables, and do stick and poke tattoos (IG @zhazhatattoo).
